Dogs Required to be on Leash - Temporary Ordinance

Pitkin County commissioners approved an emergency ordinance Tuesday, April 14, requiring dogs to be leashed at all times on Smuggler Mountain Road, Hunter Creek Cutoff and the Jaffee River Trail - areas where dogs off leash are otherwise allowed. This is a temporary measure to help ensure social distancing by trail users. Please observe this new restriction while it is in force. And remember, leash laws are always in effect on other OST trails, including the Rio Grande.
