YOUTH Chess Camp

Chess Camp is a hosted camp through Chess Wizards, in partnership with the City of Aspen Recreation Department

Join us this summer for tons of challenging chess lessons, exciting games, and cool prizes. You'll improve your chess skills, meet new friends, and work out your most powerful muscle - your brain! Our camps include fun team chess games (like Comer Chess), recess time (of course), snacks, tournaments, and puzzles. Each camper receives a T-shirt, trophy, and puzzle folder. Children do need to pack their own lunch; we include all other materials necessary for your child to participate. Unleash your brain power and spend part of your vacation with Chess Wizards!

Chess Wizards offers summer vacation camps for children 6-12. We’ve developed an interactive day-camp format which includes all kinds of activities to keep kids both physically and mentally engaged during their time with us. Team chess games, puzzles, skill-building, and team and individual physical games are just some of the ways we integrate the whole person into our camp activities. A sample day might include exploration of a technical chess concept, fun group challenges which hone specific chess thinking patterns, a healthy snack, a mini-tournament, capture-the-flag, and blob tag. Or creating and designing your own chess piece to be used in a practice game with your new friends. 

Chess Wizards has been teaching the game of chess since 2002. Our interactive curriculum makes learning fun for new and seasoned players alike. Our camps are led by our most experienced instructors and provides our students with a memorable camp experience while challenging their mind

DAILY REQUIREMENTS

Each child should bring the following EVERY DAY:

• Water Bottle, with child's First and Last name
• Lunch w/ utensils (we cannot heat food)
• 2 Snacks, minimum
• Proper clothing for all types of weather as we will still be going outside throughout the day. (i.e. sun hat, raincoat, light jacket, etc.)
• Sunscreen for self-application: Sunscreen must be labeled with child's First and Last name

ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS

This program has a minimum participation requirement of 12 children per session. If the session does not have at least 12 children enrolled a week prior, then the session will be cancelled and participants will be credited.

CANCELLATION POLICY

If registration is cancelled within:

• 1 month of start date of camp, full refund issued
• 2 weeks before start date of camp, 50% refund issued
• 1 week before start date of camp, no refund issued

No refunds will be issued after camp session has begun
