Event Description

May 22 - Ride for the Pass is a charity bike race/recreational ride to benefit the Independence Pass Foundation. The Ride follows the traditional route from the Winter Gate, 4 miles east of Aspen to the Independence Ghost Town. The ride gains approximately 2,500 feet of elevation from 8,500' to 11,100' over a 10 mile course. Register at www.active.com or for more information visit www.independencepass.org.

May 23 - The Aspen Cycling Criterium is not your typical 4 corner race, try 10! This fast paced, energy packed bicycle race is held in the heart of downtown Aspen and runs heats of athletes at speeds of 28 mph and higher around a .9 mile track with sharp curves on road bikes.

May 22 | Leaving at 4pm from the Hub of Aspen
Group Ride to the funky Woody Creek Tavern then Lenado.
Ride will last approximately 1.5-2 hours (easy). Travel from Aspen to Lower River Road to Woody Creek Tavern to Lenado. (Weather permitting, No ride if raining).
No fee.

The Square - A stylish, twist-filled film noir (a first feature film from Austrailian stuntmanturned-director Nash Edgerton) that centers on an adulterous couple whose scheming leads to arson, blackmail and murder.
Friday and Saturday - 7:30pm or Saturday Matinee - 4:30pm

USA Cycling Races - The Aspen Cycling Criterium is held under USA Cycling Permit (permit # 2010-1026). All USAC rules apply. Helmets are required at all times on a bicycle. A valid USAC license is required to race. Unlicensed riders must purchase a single day license or annual license. The Aspen Cycling Festival reserves the right to combine or cancel categories for any reason, including limited entrants.

Citizen Races - The Citizen categories are for riders who are not members of USA Cycling, but would still like to compete in a criterium race. Road bicycle and helmet are required. One day USAC license is not required. Junior Racers 14-17 will go 2 blocks. *Results by Age Categories: 18-29, 30-39, 40-49,50-59, 60+

We will not allow anyone to be on the course warming up during another heat. If you are caught on the course during a heat that you are not in and it is not a warm up time, you will be disqualified. Course Marshals will be on course and if they see you on and off the course during another heat they will contact the Race director and your bib will be pulled immediately. There will be 10 minutes after each heat for a cool down/warm up period before the next heat. Heats and start times are subject to change if we see a surge in registrations for a category.

Pre-registration - $10 for Citizen Juniors, $20 for Citizen Women & Men, $20 for USAC (+$10 one day license if applicable)
Day of Registration is available at the Start/Finish race day - $10 for Juniors, $40 for Citizen Women & Men, $30 for USAC (+$10 one day license if applicable) Race Day Registration CLOSES 30 minutes before each event.Each additional race is $10.

Directions & Parking

The Start/Finish is located on the corner of Monarch Street and Hyman Avenue. On-street parking is limited in the west downtown core so please use the covered parking garage located just four blocks from the start at 427 Rio Grande Place off of Mill Street or park in the east downtown core.
