America's Uphill

Date: 3/17/12

Aspen's favorite spring ritual - a 3000 foot climb up Aspen Mountain finishing at the Sundeck Restaurant at 11,212 feet. Participants are stretched to their athletic limits on this sensory stimulating course.  With a combination of steep inclines and mellow plateau’s the race to the finish is always exciting and demanding. Attracting hundreds of racers each year, the race brings together snowshoers, Nordic skiers, telemark skiers, and Randonee skiers for this 2.5 mile trek.

Aspen Cycling Festival - featuring Aspen Criterium

Date: From 5/19/12 To 5/20/12

Ride for the Pass is a charity bike race/recreational ride to benefit the Independence Pass Foundation. The Ride follows the traditional route from the Winter Gate, 4 miles east of Aspen to the Independence Ghost Town. The ride gains approximately 2,500 feet of elevation from 8,500' to 11,100' over a 10 mile course. For more information visit www.independencepass.org.

The Aspen Cycling Criterium, part of the Rocky Mountain Cup presented by PreRace.com, is not your typical 4 corner race, try 10! This fast paced, energy packed bicycle race is held in the heart of downtown Aspen and runs heats of athletes at speeds of 28 mph and higher around a .9 mile track with sharp curves on road bikes. Aspen Backcountry Marathon

Utilizing the amazing trails that surround Aspen, this full marathon is run almost exclusively on dirt trails. The diversity and elevation gain will challenge even the well trained athlete. The race will be open to individuals. While the route has spectacular views of the Elk Mountain range and the city of Aspen below the ascents and descents will keep everyone challenged.
