Parks and Recreation Department

The Rio Grande Skateboard Park, built in 2001, is the direct result of youth, young adults, parents, and the Parks and Recreation Department working together to satisfy a recreational need.

Since the opening it has become one of the most popular recreational facilities, accommodating upwards of 200 to 300 riders per day. With over 13,000 square feet of skate terrain, skaters will be able to keep busy all day long. The three distinct skate areas from shallow-and-easy to deep-and-difficult make skating possible for the beginner, intermediate, and advanced skater.

Any violation of these rules and regulations is punishable by a fine, expulsion, and/or prosecution/jail time for trespassing on City property pursuant to City of Aspen Municipal Criminal Code 15.04.280.

This facility has been designed for use by skateboarders and in-line skaters. In order to provide a safe and enjoyable experience, please observe the following:

1. Use this site at your own risk. Be alert and exercise common sense.
2. HELMETS ARE MANDATORY. Proper use of wrist guards, elbow and kneepads is strongly recommended.
3. Bicycles and Scooters/Razors are prohibited.
4. Alcohol, tobacco and/or drugs are prohibited.
5. Modifications to existing ramps/bowl areas are prohibited.
6. Glass containers are prohibited.
7. No stickers or graffiti in any form.
8. Skating hours are from 8:00 a.m. to sunset.
9. Please keep food and drink off the skating surfaces.
10. Put all trash in the cans and recycle containers.
11. Skate only in the skate park area and avoid excessive noise. Please respect our neighbors and adjacent park users.
12. Keep pets leashed and outside the skate area.
13. In case of a serious injury or other emergency, call 911.
