Happy Halloween - Boo Bash!

Please bring your kids and join the Aspen Recreation Department and Red Brick Center for the Arts for the Boo Bash - a Halloween Celebration at the Aspen Firehouse on Monday, October 31st.

Free food, games, and arts & crafts will be happening from 3:00-5:00pm!

Dress up in your best costume (adults too!) and join the festivities!

Swim Meet - Entire Aquatics Area Closure!

The ARC is pleased to host a swim meet for the Aspen Swim Club on Saturday, October 8th and Sunday, October 9th. 

The entire aquatics area will be closed for the weekend to the public to host the meet. 

The pool will reopen with normal hours on Monday, October 10th.

CALL FOR ASPEN RECREATION CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBER

The Aspen Recreation Center is currently seeking interested individuals who would like to sit on the Recreation Center Citizens Advisory Committee. The two year appointment is open to individuals interested in representing the interests of the swimming community and general uses of the facility. Individuals must reside in Pitkin County and for a period of not less than 1 year. The Advisory Committee is made up of 7 individuals representing ice activities, swimming activities, the Aspen Youth Center, and general interests of the community as they relate to the Recreation Center.

The Aspen Recreation Center Citizen Advisory Committee meets once per month on the first Tuesday from 2:30pm to 4:30pm. The Committee assists staff with policy direction, review of financials, scheduling, master planning and various interests at the direction of the City Council.

◦Those individuals who are interested are asked to submit a resume’ and letter of interest to the Recreation Center front desk no later than September 30th, 2015. Please identify:
• Why you are interested
• Any relevant background you may bring to the committee which best qualifies you as a swimming representative.
• Where you reside
• Other pertinent information you feel may be helpful

A decision on these representatives will be made in October and confirmed by City Council in November.

Come play with the Aspen Recreation Department afterschool for our new Afterschool Club. Afterschool Club is a state-licensed program for youth 5-11yrs. Program will include homework help and lots of fun recreational activities.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 3:15-5:30pm - Cost: $15

Wednesday: 1:40-5:30pm - Cost: $20

2016 Fall Playdayz

Come play with the Aspen Recreation Department! Playdays with Aspen Rec is a state licensed program designed for youth 5-11 years old (5 years old must be attending kindergarten) to come have fun with the Recreation Department staff on the days that they don’t have school. The days will be packed full of fun & educational activities.

2016 Fall Dates: Sept 30, Oct 20 & 21, Nov 3 & 4

Drop Off: 7:30am - 9:30am
Pick Up: 3:30pm - 5:30pm
Cost: $40 per day

Day Camp Ages: Camp welcomes youth in the Aspen Valley youth between the ages 5-10 year olds. All 5 year olds must be attending kindergarten and provide proof.

Our talented instructor, Elaine Kozel, is certified through The International Tang Soo Do Federation. She is a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Tang Soo Do. Elaine will teach your kids the basics of karate, including self-discipline and gross motor skills. Elaine will also mentor them as they advance in the sport.

Class is held at the Aspen Recreation Center (ARC).

Please take note of the upcoming changes in our operations and activities

Hours of Operation:

September 1st - 5th: 7:30am - 6:30pm

September 6th - 31st: 8:00am - 6:30pm

Golf Carts:

The last 18-hole golf cart will be rented at 3:30pm and the last 9-hole cart at 5:00pm. All golf carts must be returned no later than 7:30pm.

Driving Range:

We will be hitting off the golf mats on: Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday beginning September 5th.
