With two great ice facilities we have lots of options. The Aspen Ice Garden was renovated in 2013 to improve
the overall appearance and function of the arena. The Ice Garden has a
single surface (85' x 185') that has been referred to by many figure and
hockey skaters alike as one of the best-maintained surfaces in the
region. Hours of operation are dependent on programming.
The Lewis Ice Arena - located at The ARC; the Lewis Ice Arena was completed in the Spring of 2003 and includes an NHL regulation-size
ice surface (85' x 200'), grandstand seating for 450, and a comfortable
lobby. A skate shop offers precision sharpening and skate rentals.
- Private lessons for beginning-level skaters are available during
public skating and freestyle sessions.
- We highly recommend helmets for all skaters! We do not provide any at
the rink (any helmet will work: ski, bike, hockey, etc).
The iconic Aspen Ice Garden has
been a part of Aspen’s history for the past 50 years. Just recently renovated
in 2013, the Ice Garden is conveniently located in the downtown core of Aspen.
It is host to both local figure skating clubs, Aspen Junior Hockey, Adult
Recreational Hockey Leagues, adult women’s hockey and the Aspen Curling Club.
Stop by and play some drop-in hockey. The Ice Garden is also home to the Aspen
Antiques and Fine Arts Fair and the Art Aspen - special events held every summer.
Stop by the historical Ice Garden. There’s sure to be something worth watching!

Sledding, skating, and snowshoeing all in one spot!? Sounds too good to be true, huh?
The Aspen Recreation Center’s Winter Wonderland features all these great outdoor activities that are perfect for après ski or just an afternoon family outing.
Take a ride on the “Whoa Nelly” Sledding Hill. Grab your friends and hang on to your hats! See who can race down the hill first – winner gets his or her sled carried back up the hill by the other racers!
Whether you have fresh new snow or are sledding down the dips and jumps created by other sledders, you’re going to have fun. Bring your own equipment and sled for FREE! Otherwise, rent a sled from us for only $5.
After you have finished your ride down the sledding hill, strap on your skates and try out the new outdoor skating rink– the ARC-tic Pond. During dusk the lights turn on and the twinkling trees help give it that magical, nighttime ambiance.
You’re not done yet! Next, test out your snowshoe skills on three new trails that take you around the Aspen Recreation Center. Snowshoeing is the perfect way to enjoy Aspen’s blue bird days outdoors. If you’re looking for a more athletic endeavor, take a look at the cross-country map that boasts over 90 kilometers of trails from Aspen to Snowmass.
"Skate Under the Lights" - The ARC-tic Skating Pond is open until 9:00pm (Monday - Friday), until 8:00pm (Saturday), and until 6:00pm (Sunday).
