Zumba – Party & Workout

Get your booty shakin’! Zumba is a sassy Latin-inspired dance fitness program, which blends Latin and International music and rhythms to create a fun, party-like workout.

Many rave that this workout doesn’t feel like a workout at all.

Zumba is offered twice a week at both the Aspen Recreation Center and Red Brick Recreation Center.

  • Wednesdays | 5:30-6:30pm | Aspen Recreation Center

  • Thursdays | 12:00-1:00pm | Red Brick Recreation Center
    Begins February 10

Zumba began with Colombian fitness instructor Alberto “Beto” Perez in the ‘90s and took off in Florida in 2001. Now classes are taught to more than 10 million people in 110 countries, according to the Zumba Fitness website.

Swim the English Channel & Train for a Triathlon

Always a dream of yours to one day swim the English Channel? Is this the year you’re going to do a Triathlon.  Now you can do both…at the Aspen Recreation Center!

Swim The Distance
Swim the distance is a new program at the Aspen Recreation that lets you keep track of your distance of swimming with the aquatics staff. The first distance is the English Channel. Log your hours each time you swim at the Aspen Recreation Center and once you reach the 21 miles you will receive a T-Shirt recognizing your achievement. Cost:  $15 dollars

Triathlons for the first timers
Have you always wanted to try the multi-sport but are unsure of what you need to do for training and gear? This class is for you.  Wednesday mornings from 7:30-8:30am we will get you the knowledge and give you some workouts and technique tips to get you on your way.  We will help set your goals and get you triathlon ready with the first triathlon being the Aspen Triathlon scheduled for June 11. Cost:  Admission plus $5.00.

New Years Resolutions

So what are some of your New Years Resolutions? Maybe a few extra days at the gym or some fitness classes…

Aspen Recreation has over 20 different classes throughout the week with certified instructors to help you improve your physical, mental, and social well being while you sweat your way to a better you.

Our personal trainers are certified fitness professionals. Our trainers work as independent contractors and have the ability to set their own schedule and will help you to develop and/or improve your exercise routine. Searching for the perfect gift for someone or maybe yourself? Give the gift of recreation! Now through the end of December the Aspen Recreation Center is offering 15% off any FUN passes purchased.

A FUN pass includes access to: Aspen Recreation Center, Red Brick Recreation Center, Aspen Ice Garden, and Aspen Tennis Club. Activities include swimming, skating, climbing, fitness classes, cardio & weight room and more!

Passholders can also bring in family and friends and they will receive the local daily admission rate.

Annual, 6-month, monthly, youth, adult, and family passes are available and can be purchased online at or at the Aspen Recreation Center or Red Brick Recreation Center.

New Water Features at the ARC

The ARC is now home to 4 new water features in the pool. A dumping trough that fills up with water then spills over, a spray cannon (careful not to spray the lifeguards!), Mr. Salty the spouting marlin and a toddler slide.

The fall/winter season is heating up with a wide range of activities to choose from. Leagues and drop-ins for basketball and soccer as well as a Rugby Coaches Clinic are all starting up soon.

Learn to Skate – Get FREE Skates

Have you ever been to the ice rink and hang out to the side while watching kids, family and friends zoom around the rink? Maybe you don’t have skates. Or maybe you don’t know how to skate.

Now the Aspen Recreation Center is offering a FREE pair of Riedell skates ($25-30 value) when you sign up for 6 weeks of Learn to Skate, Parent/Tot Classes, or On-Ice Conditioning!

Learn to Skate:
Session 1: Wednesdays |3:30-4pm
November 10, 17, & 24 and December 1, 8 & 15

Session 2: Wednesdays | 4:30-5pm
January 5, 12, 19 &  26 and February 2, 9

Parent/Tot Classes
Mondays | 10:30-11:30am

On-Ice Conditioning Classes
Thursdays | Noon-1pm | $18/class

To receive your FREE pair of skates by the holidays you must register by December 8. Gift certificates will be given to those who register after December 8.

The ARC is also offering Ice Cafe Classes on Mondays from Noon-1pm for adults 18+. $20/class

Playdayz – Pure Fun!

Come play with the Aspen Recreation Department! Play Dayz with Aspen Rec is a state licensed program designed for youth 5-14 years old (5 years old must be attending kindergarten) to come have fun with the Recreation Department staff on the days that they don’t have school. The dayz will be packed full of fun & educational activities.

Upcoming activities include: fitness, swimming, rock climbing, crafts, painting and more! For a detailed list of activities check out the schedule.

Drop Off: 7:30am – 9:30am
Pick Up: 3:30pm – 5:30pm

Day Camp Ages: Camp welcomes youth in the Aspen Valley youth between the ages 5-14 year olds. All 5 year olds must be attending kindergarten and provide proof.

Fall Festival Fun – FREE!

It’s time for Aspen Recreation Center’s Fall Carnival to be held at the ARC on Thursday, October 28  from 2-5pm.

This fun filled event will include pumpkin decorating, bobbing for apples, Halloween crafts, face painting, games by the pool area, bounce house (weather permitting), and more!
