Aspen Golf Club – Open When the Weather Decides

April 1st, 2013

The Aspen Golf Club opening date is a little different than last year. In 2012, the Aspen Golf Club opened right on schedule, April 1, due to the lack of snow and warm weather. This year with late spring storms the chance to get on the course may be a little longer wait.

Each year the Aspen Golf Club is scheduled to open April 1, weather dependent. “The Aspen Golf Club will be open for play in April weather dependent.  It’s been a unique winter,” said Steve Aitken CGCS Director of Golf at Aspen Golf Club, “permanent snow cover did not arrive until December 4.”

“These past two weeks of March have been unusually cold with precipitation holding the snow cover on the golf course and delaying our normal spring melt off.  It will not take long once warmer weather returns but until then we are in a holding pattern for golf,” Aitken reports.

For those of you who would like to get a jump start on your practice the golf simulator, which opened in December, will be up and running the first week in April when the Red Mountain Grill reopens.  Just $35 per hour the golf simulator allows you to play real golf with real equipment on real courses.

Inside the Aspen Golf Shop will begin adding merchandise daily. Hours of operation are from 9am-5pm daily beginning April 4. Red Mountain Grill will also be open during limited hours.

Passes for the 2013 season can still be purchased online at www.aspenrecreation.com or by visiting the Aspen Recreation Center or Red Brick Recreation Center.

For more information on the Aspen Golf Club visit us at www.aspengolf.com or call 970-429-1949.
