A NOTE TO THOSE INTERESTED IN PLAYING HOCKEY: USA Hockey recommends that beginning hockey players learn to skate before putting a stick in their hand. Therefore, the Aspen Ice Facilities use a basic skating skills program that teaches students the strong skating skills that are important to master before moving on to hockey or figure skating. In the basic skills classes, students will learn forwards and backwards skating, stopping, and turning.
