Skating Lessons and Figure Skating

ASPEN SKATING SCHOOL/LEARN TO SKATE
The Aspen Skating School offers classes for those wanting to learn more about the basics of skating.  Skaters will build solid skating technique whether the desire is to continue as a serious skater or to skate recreationally.  We recommend helmets for all beginning skaters - skaters must provide their own helmet.  Skaters may skate in either figure skates or hockey skates during any Aspen Skating School class.

Summer Figure Skating
Surrounded  by the splendors of the Rocky Mountains, Aspen’s Summer Skate is a great time to put in extra hours on the ice. Our Summer Skating program keeps figure skaters cool and busy. We offer both on-ice and off-ice classes for skaters of all levels. Our off-ice classes include both hiking and biking activities. There are an abundance of activities for skaters, families and friends. A Summer in Aspen is an experience you’ll never forget.

PRIVATE/SEMI-PRIVATE LESSONS
If you are interested in private lessons, please click here to read about the coaches available for instruction. If you would like to schedule a lesson, please contact the instructor directly using the contact information on the attached sheet.

A NOTE TO THOSE INTERESTED IN PLAYING HOCKEY:
USA Hockey recommends that beginning hockey players learn to skate before putting a stick in their hand. Therefore, the Aspen Ice Facilities use a basic skating skills program that teaches students the strong skating skills that are important to master before moving on to hockey or figure skating.  In the basic skills classes, students will learn forwards and backwards skating, stopping, and turning.
